Ta’Lay EcoCraft is made possible by the cooperation of Local communities in Phuket and the vision of our parent company “Live Like a Local”, that leads teams to help clean up ocean waste and provide employment opportunities for overlooked communities.

Dedicated collection teams venture to the beach to harvest the valuable materials that others see as waste. Tangled fishing nets, floating buoys, and monsoon debris left on our shores aren’t the end of a story, rather they are the beginning of ours. The materials are thoroughly cleaned, sterilised, and then hand sorted to reclaim as much as possible whilst still ensuring our bags are not just beautiful, but also strong and long lasting.

“Live Like a Local” partners with talented local communities and artisans, who skilfully handcraft the reclaimed materials, blending them with scraps of fabric to create stunning, durable, and one-of-a-kind upcycled bags.

Every bag is hand-made to order and truly unique, play a part in cleaning the ocean, and economically support overlooked communities.

NOTE: All Ta’Lay EcoCraft bags are made by our parent brand “Live Like a Locals”. We take pride in our authentically Thai designs, and always produce our bags to the highest quality. As a result of employing multiple small communities and using upcycled materials, every bag is unique, and will not always perfectly match the product images provided. Upcycled Materials

We collect fishing nets, marine ropes and net floats from beaches and shallow waters, helping to protect the environment and giving us the materials to create something beautiful and functional.

Recycled Fishing Nets

Salvaged from beaches and coastal waters, then washed and sterilised before being used to craft the main body of our bags, and in some designs as inner liners and bag rims.

Local Batik Cloth

Locally sourced to create visually striking inner liners, bag rims, and handle wraps

Handmade Ornaments

Engaging with local communities using repurposed materials to craft removable decorative ornaments that are included with our bags.

Marine Rope

Locally sourced marine ropes create the handles and straps of all of our unique bags, bringing the ocean to your shoulder.
